On August 14, 2025, the President signed into law two significant pieces of legislation regarding veterans’ affairs: S. 423, known as the ‘Protecting Regular Order for Veterans Act of 2025,’ and S. 201, called the ‘ACES Act of 2025.’

The PRO Veterans Act requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide quarterly updates on budget shortfalls, imposes limits on certain financial incentives for senior executives, and establishes a Veterans Experience Office to improve the quality of services for veterans.

In parallel, the ACES Act mandates that the Department of Veterans Affairs work with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to study cancer rates and mortality among veterans who served as aircrew members in fixed-wing aircraft, with the goal of gaining valuable insights into their health outcomes.
